French Toast
last two nights the final draw of 2010 World Cup in South Africa was held... and i can say that the draw is quite balance in all groups except Group G where the it is called the Group of Death at the next year's edition where the group contains 5 times champion Brazil led by Kaka, as well as the world's most expensive player Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal and the likes of Didier Drogba in the finest African team Ivory Coast and not to forget the minnows North Korea representing Asia who can be thorn in the bush for any these big guns in the group... it will be interesting to see who will get to the next round from this group... other favorites such as England, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Netherlands and Germany get to be in the easier draws...
a lot of people out there supports England, Brazil, Argentina and Italy as well as Spain... but as for me there is only one team for me and it is France... i know, i know that people are jerking me off because of their controversial berth to the Finals but i have been supporting them since the World Cup 1998... i also kind of ashamed from how they get to the Finals because they played badly in the two playoffs and managed to struggle their way in through a 'courtesy goal'... but i wish not to discuss that further... France was the champion during the 1998 edition and a runner-up in the last 2006 edition and they were two times European champion in the Euro 2000 and European Championship 1984... i started to fall in love with this team because of one man... Zinedine Zidane.
he is my most favorite player of all time and my idol... i watched him play for France in the World Cup 1998 and i think he is the most talented and complete footballer i have ever seen... that is why when i play football, i prefer the midfielder position the most... he can dribble. his dribbling skill is unique and has his own signature where nobody else can copy... he has a perfect inch pass that split the defence in chaos... his vision was almost perfect.. he can see all the positions of his team-mates without even seeing them... he can shoot very accurately and has powerful shots from both his right and left foot... and his ball control was spectacular... he can control the ball nicely even in difficult situation like his feet has a magnet and it was very hard to tackle or steal the ball away from him... it was a shame on how he ended his career at the highest stage four years ago... but back then team France was perfect in all position.and that is why i liked them... the golden days of France... im not saying France right now is not good.. in fact they has one of the most talented team in the world with very good blend of young players such as Yoann Gourcuff, Samir Nasri, Karim Benzema, Hugo Lloris, Jean-Pierre Gignac, Gabriel Obertan and as well as experienced stars such as Nicolas Anelka, Thierry Henry, Franck Ribery, Patrice Evra and William Gallas but they could not find synchronization in their play... and this resulted in a very poor form and inconsistent results... with their kind of performance right now, i dont put too much hope on them repeating the achievement of four years ago where they reached the final... maybe they cant even get through the group stage even their group is also not that difficult which comprises Mexico, Uruguay and host nation South Africa... the problem of this team is their coach, Raymond Domenech... his method is questionable with peculiar tactics used and some bad decisions... he doesnt know how to utilized his pool of talented players and turn them to work as a team... he failed to do that... they looked unconvincing and looked lost with no direction to play in their previous games... im quite disappointed in the current situation that plaguing the France team and the France Football Federation knew the situation and how so many supporters are against Domenech but they still put their trust in him... i would prefer Laurent Blanc or Didier Deschamps to be made as France's national coach because they have been quite successful in the club level and their tactics are quite good and they know how to use proper tactics in modern football... until the coach is not replaced, i think there is a slim chance of France to make an impact in the next year's World Cup... if they change the coach, i will be so happy and i think there is no problem of adapting and preparing the team with a new coach because there is still enough time to mix up and injecting new spirit to the team... but still i wish France can go as far as they can in the tournament and hope they get all the luck they need.
so cant wait to get my butts in front of the TV next June on the 11th to see the kick off of the world's biggest sport event that attracts billions of supporters and unite the people as one in a good sportsmanship manner... oh.at this time i wonder until when we will cheer for other nation's team.. when we can get the chance to support our own Malaysian team in the World Cup? that question i will leave it to the Malaysian Football Association to find the answer... we have all the world class facilities but we dont have world class players.. what a shame... even our neighboring countries making such a progress but we keep moving backwards... what happened to us? our system is too conservative and lack of patrioticism... get up Malaysians... and from what i know, Indonesia is preparing a bid to host the World Cup in 2022... but i guess until we are proven to be a worthy team to compete in the world stage, do not even bother to try to be the World Cup host because we will just humiliate ourselves in front of billions just like what happened in the Asian Championship three years ago.... i will discuss about this issue later... see you and ALLEZ LES BLEUS!!
