Pulling The Strings
a beautiful song can keep me whistle endlessly and fly me away from the real world. a beautiful song can elevate my mood and forget the sorrow i am in. that is the power and the influence of a song. songs are sometimes composed in memoir of someone or a scenes of life. songs also sometimes are used as a propaganda preaching and promoting peace or either violence. even the anthem of our country is to lift the spirit of patriotism among us.
there are a lot of genres in music that evolves from time to time. there are hip hop, rock n roll, pop, blues, jazz, ska, techno and a long list of it. and from these genres, they divided into few categories more. people sometimes put themselves into these categories explaining which type of music they are in. some people are so fanatic about their music that they do not want to hear other types of music. well. let them be. they have a world of reasons why they are acting such.
i myself personally loves rock so much but i still open my ears to other type of music. and i used to play in a band that me and my friends set up together. really miss those days. synchronizing the instruments and translate it to a playable song really gives me the satisfaction and the pleasure. maybe that is why i am really into rock. all the drum kicking and guitar bass string pulling but played it in the same chord beautifully. but i do not simply hear any type of rock. i only love rock with art. the same principle goes to any type of music out there.
what makes a good and beautiful song? other people have their own interpretation on how they value the songs they like. some people love to hear the catchy melodies and some people likes to hear the music that reflects their mood and personality. some enjoy a melancholic melody. but as for me, i love songs that have a great melody that embedded with meaningful lyrics. i do not like good melody but shitty lyrics. and vice versa. i really hate songs that only has two lines of words and repeating it throughout the whole song and using hums too much. Coldplay is one example who has both good melody and lyrics.
a beautiful song is then a song that melts in the ear with its composition and words that move like an orchestra marching in harmony breaking the conundrums of music ecstacy. so musicians out there, please and please make a good and worthy songs. as like our great artist P. Ramlee said like irama dan lagu.
